    What are the different types of fibre?

    We can group fibre types into three families: 1) insoluble; 2) soluble; and 3) resistant starch. The latter two play particularly important roles as prebiotics and it is these that often fall seriously short in our diets, especially resistant starch. They are all important for a healthy gut.
